Tennis:: Former World No. 1 star Kim Clijsters

Former world No. 1 star Kim Clijsters has scheduled a Thursday news conference amid reports she is planning a comeback.

The 25-year-old Belgian retired from the WTA Tour in May of 2007 in order to start a family with her eventual husband Brian Lynch, and she gave birth to a daughter, Jada, in February of last year. Clijsters and Lynch got married in July of '07.

the 2005 U.S. Open champion Clijsters will "unveil her plans for 2009" at a tennis center where she has been training. She recently announced that she would play fellow former world No. 1 star Steffi Graf in an exhibition match at Wimbledon's venerable All England Club on May 17. It will be part of a series a matches, which will also feature Andre Agassi and Tim Henman, that day to test out the conditions under the new retractable roof on the famed Centre Court.
The popular star, who once held the No. 1 singles ranking for 19 weeks, has won 34 titles on the WTA Tour and appeared in five Grand Slam finals, going 1-4. She also owns two major doubles championships.

Clijsters' last singles title came two years ago in Sydney.

Her long-time fellow Belgian rival, Justine Henin, retired from the WTA last year.
