Museum Brandhorst, Munich Germany
Sauerbruch Hutton Architects designed the Brandhorst Museum in the Kunstareal of München Bayern Germany, completed in 2009. The 36,000 vertical ceramic louvres of different colors cover the long 2 story exterior.
Shading devices on the all-skylit ceilings in many of the galleries provide an even light with Danish oak floorboards and white walls. The exterior's ceramic rods are mounted on horizontally folded sheet metal with small perforations. The result is a busy blend of colors far away, but a shifting depth of color close up.
