Overwhelmed Gazans exporting aid

Gazans are so overwhelmed with the world's sympathy for their 'plight' that they have started to export aid to Somalia. Imams in mosques in the Gaza strip mentioned Somalia during Friday prayers last week and asked Gazans to donate to their brothers there.

Moreover, the Arab Doctors Union Gaza branch ran a campaign asking the people of Gaza to donate to people of Somalia.

The campaign, called "

Turks continue pressure on Israel for 'apology'

Lest you think it's over... the Turks are continuing to press for an Israeli 'apology' for the Mavi Marmara incident (Hat Tip: Joshua I). A senior Foreign Ministry official has expressed confidence that Israel will eventually give in to demands by Turkey and offer an apology and pay compensation to victims in order to pave the way for a normalization of bilateral relations.

“The Israeli

Last Wednesday, I told you all about Gaza's brand new five-star al-Mashtal luxury hotel. Now, I have some video to show you far more of the place. I'll have more after the fold too (this came from an Italian newspaper article parts of which someone translated for me).

Let's go to the videotape.

It's wet in December

A British organization wants to organize another flotilla of fools to challenge Israel's lawful blockade of Gaza at the end of December. The British organization Long Live Palestine has called on all freedom-loving people in the world to take part in a large-scale freedom flotilla at the end of the year, in order to break the Gaza siege. According to the plan, the flotilla will set sale in late

'Besieged' Gaza City gets another five-star hotel

Gaza City has another five-star hotel (the AP article below makes it sound like the only five-star hotel in Gaza, but we know that's not true). This hotel is called Arcmed Al Mashtal. Nearly all of the newly opened hotel's 222 rooms, decked out with ornate metal-worked lamps, flat screen televisions, oversized beds and sea views, sit empty. The tourists whom the developers expected to flood to

What if UNRWA issued an appeal and no one responded?

UNRWA issued an appeal for $300 million for all the 'poor Palestinians' in Gaza. But after cutting the appeal amount in half, they are still $35 million short, i.e. they have raised $115 million out of $300 million. Maybe this (from an interview with UNRWA director Chris Guness) has something to do with why. There is also deep discontent about the removal of over 100,000 people from your food

Flotilla hypocrisy

David Harris wonders why the flotilla of fools is only interested in going to Gaza. Now don't bet the family farm that the flotilla folk will show up anytime soon in Egypt, Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, or anywhere else outside Gaza. The reason? Simple and obvious. If it doesn't have an Israeli connection, they're just not interested. Why? Good question. Their single-minded obsession with Israel and

Turkey: We won't forget and we won't forgive

In this country, when you want to show everyone that you're really angry at something someone has done to you, you say 'lo niscach v'lo nislach' (we won't forget and we won't forgive). Turkey has apparently developed a similar tradition. And they're applying it to last year's Mavi Marmara incident and telling us about it over and over again (Hat Tip: Joshua I). Turkey will never forget the nine

Erdogan wants threatens to visit Gaza

In an earlier post, I reported that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other Turkish officials wanted to visit Gaza when conditions were right. Now Erdogan is using the prospect of such a visit as a crass threat to try to induce Israel to apologize for the IDF defending itself. The Turkish prime minister has expressed his desire to visit Hamas-controlled Gaza after a trip to Egypt,

They're not allowing pictures, but Gaza has a new luxury hotel. It's called the Moby Dick. The hotel, called Moby Dick, will be inaugurated in the coming days, and Gazans hope it attracts not just Hamas men but also Western tourists. If they do arrive, they'll be able to enjoy luxurious banquet halls made of marble and stone, first-class restaurants and a shining swimming pool.In the meantime,

Boogie talks Turkey

Strategic Affairs Minister Moshe (Boogie) Yaalon told Israel Radio on Wednesday morning that he has had it with talking to Turkey. According to Yaalon, the Turks want an apology and not reconciliation. Minister of Strategic Affairs Moshe Ya'alon said on Wednesday that Turkey's insistence on an Israeli apology for last year's Gaza flotilla raid does not allow reconciliation talk to progress,

Surprise: 'Palestinians' agreed that no foreign ships would be allowed within 12 miles of Gaza

Forget for a minute that the United Nations is about to issue the Palmer Commission report that finds that the Israeli blockade of Gaza is legal. The 'Palestinians' themselves AGREED as part of the Oslo accords that no foreign ship would be allowed within 12 nautical miles of the Gaza coast! Pursuant to the Oslo Accords negotiated and signed between Israel and the PLO, the Palestinians agreed
