Andrew Tyler Hansbrough (born November 3, 1985 in Columbia, Missouri) is an American collegiate basketball player for the North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team. Hansbrough was a unanimous selection for the 2006, 2007, and 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference All Conference Team, 2006 ACC Freshman of the Year, and 2008 ACC Conference Player of the Year. In 2008, Hansbrough swept all major individual honors in men's college basketball. For a North Carolina men's player to have his jersey retired, he must win at least one of six national player of the year awards: the Associated Press, the U.S. Basketball Writers Association, the National Association of Basketball Coaches, Sporting News, the Naismith Award and the Wooden Award, and wait until his class has graduated. Since Hansbrough won all six, and returned for his senior season, he will have his number 50 retired when he graduates from North Carolina in 2009. Hansbrough is the son of Tami Wheat and Dr. Gene Hansbrough and brother of former Mississippi State University and future Notre Dame player Ben Hansbrough. NBA scouts have so far admitted that it is difficult to predict exactly when in the draft Hansbrough will be selected.

Andrew Lee Bynum is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was drafted 10th overall by the Lakers in 2005. Bynum became the youngest player ever to play an NBA game later that year, breaking Jermaine O'Neal's record. Amidst the 2007–08 season, he suffered an injury on his left kneecap, and eventually missed the rest of the season and all of the playoffs. He made a successful return at the beginning of the 2008–09 season. In January of 2009, however, he suffered another injury, this time to his right knee. During the summer he attends Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California

Andrew Bynum set a new career high in scoring with 42 points to go along with 15 rebounds, 8 offensive and 3 blocked shots on January 21, 2009 against the Los Angeles Clippers. Also, on back to back game versus the Washington Wizards he scored 23 points to go along with 14 rebounds, 4 offensive on January 22, 2009. While playing against the Memphis Grizzlies on January 31, 2009, Kobe Bryant had an off balanced shot, fell and collided with Bynum's right knee, resulting in a right knee sprain. His return date is unknown. On February 2, 2009 it was revealed that Andrew Bynum had suffered a torn MCL in his right knee and will be out 8-12 weeks. This is the second straight year that Bynum has suffered a knee injury against the Memphis Grizzlies. This could potentially place Bynum out for the remainder of the NBA's regular season as well as the start of the playoffs. Bynum had averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds in his previous five games, posting five straight double-doubles for the first time in his career.

Steve Nash Biography
Stephen John Nash (born February 7, 1974) is a Canadian basketball player.

Nash is a starting point guard for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks. He was an NBA All-Star in 2002 and 2003.

Nash was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia. He played college basketball for Santa Clara University. He plays for the Canada national team in the summer, where he wears the number 7.

In an interview with Steve Nash, he said his favorite book is, "The Catcher In The Rye". He also mentioned that he is extremely fond of Mahatma Gandhi, because he is constantly searching for truth.

Could 2005 be the year that the Phoenix Suns finally win the NBA Championship? Back in 1993 the Charles Barkley, Kevin Johnson, and Dan Majerle led Suns had a great shot at the title but were stopped short by the phenomenon known as Michael Jordan and his team, the Chicago Bulls. In fact, lots of franchises had their best shot at winning during that Bulls dynasty, yet fell short due to the unparalleled, unstoppable Windy City juggernaut of the early 90s.

Now, in an era where more than just a mere handful of highly talented superstars are almost equally distributed throughout the league, it's anybody's game. One such superstar, Steve Nash, using his talent, unique style of play, and strong leadership abilities, has led Phoenix to the best record in the NBA at 62-20. The mark also ties the team record for wins, set by that very 1993 team.

Nash was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Feb. 7, 1974, and grew up in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He attended Santa Clara University, where he played college hoops and was twice named West Coast Conference Player of the Year. In 1996 he was drafted by the Suns as the 15th pick overall but was traded to the Dallas Mavericks two years later. While in Dallas, Nash and teammate Dirk Nowitzki led the team in becoming one of the NBA's elite. But in July 2004, Nash re-signed with the Suns, landing a $65 million contract over five years (with an option for a sixth).

Nash has excelled with the Suns. The 6'3" point guard has the keen ability to drive inside to the basket, creating plays on the fly, and is a master of the fast break. His ability to quickly dish the ball to teammates led him to a career high average of 11.5 assists per game and is superb from behind the three point line. He is virtually flawless at the free-throw line, and his animated on-court leadership has him in a position to vie with Shaquille O'Neal for the 2004-05 MVP. Nash's abilities aren't limited to basketball. He has also excelled in lacrosse, hockey and soccer, the latter of which he is a big fan; and his father and brother have both played professional soccer in England. He is also very charitable. Nash sponsors a youth basketball league with over 10,000 members in his native British Columbia, purchases blocks of tickets to each game he plays and distributes them to local charities, and has donated $10,000 to sponsor the YMCA's basketball court renovation.

A strong season put the Suns in the 2004-05 playoffs, and Phoenix fans hope that Nash, along with superstar teammates Shawn Marion, Quentin Richardson, and Amare Stoudemire, can finally bring home the title.

Recently, Nash's long-time girlfriend Alejandra Amarilla gave birth to twin girls, Lola and Bella.Could 2005 be the year that the Phoenix Suns finally win the NBA Championship? Timothy Theodore Duncan was born on the island of St. Croix. His parents William and Ione also had two daughters, Cheryl and Tricia. Tims childhood dream was to become a swimmer like his older sister Tricia who swam in the 1988 Seoul Olympics, however after hurricane Hugo destroyed all of the pools on St. Croix in 1989 Tim shifted his focus to basketball. In 1992 Chris King, a recent NBA draftee and former Wake Forrest student saw Duncan playing at St. Dunstans Episcopal High School while visiting St. Croix to promote the NBA in the Caribbean. King convinced Wake Forest coach Dave Odom to recruit Duncan. While at Wake Forest, Tim was named the NCAA National Player of the Year by the Associated Press, he could have left Wake Forest after his junior year to become the number one pick in the NBA draft, but decided instead to complete his degree in psychology, fulfilling a promise he and his sisters made to their mom before she succumbed to Breast Cancer; to earn a college degree (all three have graduated). The San Antonio Spurs chose Tim as the first pick in the 1997 NBA draft. By season end Tim was voted as Rookie of the Year and was the only rookie selected for the 1998 All-Star game. A NBA championship would follow in his 2nd season (1999). A knee injury crushed Hopes of a repeat. Duncan has been a member of three USA Basketball teams. He works with various charities including Childrens Bereavement Center of San Antonio, working with children who lost a parent at an early age. Tracy McGradyTracy McGrady

Tracy Lamar McGrady, Jr. (born May 24, 1979, in Bartow, Florida), commonly nicknamed T-Mac, is an American professional basketball player currently positioned at starting shooting guard for the Houston Rockets in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He can also play as a small forward.
Entering the league straight from high school (Mount Zion Christian Academy), McGrady eventually became a seven-time All-Star. He is also a two time NBA Scoring Champion, winning the scoring titles in 2003 and 2004. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Toronto Raptors and Orlando Magic before being traded to the Rockets in 2004. McGrady was ranked #75 on SLAM magazine's Top 75 NBA Players Of All Time in 2003. McGrady has never advanced to the second round of playoffs in his entire ten year-career despite his six trips to the playoffs: one with the Toronto Raptors, three with the Orlando Magic and two with the Houston Rockets. McGrady's style has been compared to that of George Gervin.
---------- Early Career ---------
McGrady (6 ft 8 in - 2.04 m), who plays either shooting guard or small forward, is one of the first players that went from high school (Mt. Zion Christian Academy) straight to the NBA without attending college. He created national buzz after his performance in Adidas ABCD Camp, which is for the best high school players in the nation. He was drafted ninth in the first round of the 1997 draft by the Toronto Raptors. Chicago Bulls GM Jerry Krause had arranged a draft-day trade to send Scottie Pippen to Vancouver for the 4th overall pick, which he would have used to take McGrady. But, Krause was forced to call off the deal when Michael Jordan threatened to retire if it was made.
McGrady had a decent start with the Raptors, getting better numbers in all categories every year. The cousin and teammate of Vince Carter, McGrady often found himself in the shadow of his cousin, whose dunks made him an instant star. McGrady even assisted Carter in the 2000 NBA Dunk Contest, an event in which McGrady also was competing in. While Carter was responsible for scoring, it was McGrady's job to be the team's defensive stopper and ball distributer. GM's recognized that McGrady was very versatile, and that he would demand great attention during the offseason. The young duo of Carter and McGrady led the Raptors to their first playoff berth in the 2000 Playoffs, where they were swept by the New York Knicks in 4 games.
---------- NBA Career - Orlando Magic ---------
McGrady's career took off when he forced a sign-and-trade to the Orlando Magic in exchange for a first round draft pick in 2000. In the 2000-2001 season, he won the Most Improved Player Award and was selected a starter in the All Star game. He and Grant Hill both were supposed to be valuable players for Orlando, but because of a long series of injuries to Hill, McGrady became the top player for the Magic. In the 2002-2003 season, McGrady captured the NBA scoring title, averaging 32.1 points per game. In the 2003-2004 season, he once again captured the NBA scoring title, averaging 28 points per game. and set an NBA season high when he dropped 62 against the Washington Wizards on March 10, 2004. With this performance, he became only the 4th player in the past 12 years to score over 60 points in a game.
However, fortunes turned for the worse in Orlando after a league-worst 21 win season. Amid allegations of slacking off during games (he later admitted to not giving 100% every game that season), the relationship between McGrady and Magic General Manager John Weisbrod worsened. Soon, Weisbrod decided to trade the unhappy McGrady instead of keeping him for another year and risk him leaving the Magic without compensation.
---------- NBA Career - Houston Rockets ---------
On June 29, 2004, McGrady, Tyronn Lue, and Reece Gaines were traded to the Houston Rockets in a seven-player deal that sent Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato to the Magic. In his first year in Houston, McGrady teamed with 7'6" center Yao Ming, to end the season ranked 5th in the Western Conference. The season started slowly for the Rockets, but by mid-season, coach Jeff Van Gundy altered McGrady's role and made him the primary offensive option over center Yao Ming[citation needed]. On December 9, 2004, he scored 13 points in the last 35 seconds of a game against the San Antonio Spurs, with four consecutive 3 pointers (one of which was part of a four-point play), including a steal and the game-winning 3 pointer with 1.7 seconds left in the game. This helped the Rockets win 81–80.
Despite McGrady's play in the 1st round of the 2005 NBA Playoffs, Houston was eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in game seven by 40 points.
In the early 2005–06 season, McGrady missed eight games because of multiple back spasms. His back problems resurfaced on January 8, 2006 when he had to be taken out at halftime in a game against the Denver Nuggets on a stretcher to hospital because of severe back spasms. He had been out for five games. Since his return, the spasms have still been a problem for McGrady. In the 2005–06 season the Rockets were 2–15 in games he did not play in and 2–16 in games McGrady did not finish. While McGrady was injured for five games with his back injury, the Rockets did not win a single game. Other injuries include him falling on his tailbone in a game against the Indiana Pacers.
In the 2006–07 NBA season, McGrady started out slowly, and after missing 7 games with back spasms he visited a doctor. In an interview with TNT, McGrady said that he thought that his body was slowing down. He believed that he could no longer be as explosive as he was in the past due to his back injury. Since Yao Ming was having another breakout season, he was deferring to Yao as the number one option. However, since Yao went down with a leg injury, McGrady stepped up his overall play, re-establishing himself as one of the game's premier players and by doing so has led Houston to the 5th best record in the league. Despite his recent shooting slump, he continues to find his teammates for the assist.
He averaged a career high in assists per game. However, in the playoffs, the Rockets lost their first round series to the Utah Jazz 4-3, again preventing McGrady from advancing to the second round of the playoffs. A tear fell down his cheek during the press-conference after losing game seven 99-103 to the Utah Jazz in the 2007 Playoffs. Prior to the series with the Jazz, McGrady had stated in an interview with Stephen A. Smith that if he and the Rockets failed to make it out of the first round again, it was "on me." McGrady is currently under a contract which will end following the 2009-10 NBA season, and the contract is worth an estimated 21.1 million U.S. dollars per year.
