Rem Koolhaas with OMA planned the De Uithof campus in Utrecht, and this centerpiece college building, which stands as OMA's predecessor to the IIT Student Activities building.

The Educatorium opened in 1997. The sloping ramps and floors connect lecture halls, classrooms, and large public spaces like a restaurant in an interesting way. This creates a gentle folding form in the overall structure, with a large covered plaza at the front entrance.

The concrete floor on the bottom becomes the roof structure as it folds around. Large ribbon windows and warm wood fill the space. The puffy white ceiling material, which OMA also uses in the Seattle library is cheap and effective.

With roof-top gardens and low-use energy fixtures, this evokitive buildnig is also environmentally sustainable.
