What's the song in the "30 Minutes or Less" trailer?
Search: 30 minutes or less trailer song
Why: At the end, it sounds like "Kids" by MGMT, but way slower.
(I don't have speakers at work, but I think this is the one.)
Answer: Oh, it totally is MGMT! Except it's in a song called "Opposite of Adults" by some bright young opportunity-seizers called Chiddy Bang. Wut.
And there's another song, too: "Get Rhythm" by Johnny Cash (Philip Steir Remix). Zzzzzz

Who sings the song in that Payless commercial?
Search: i am a paleontologist payless
Why: I know a Future Paleontologist of America who might just need that to be her official theme song.
Answer: They Might Be Giants!!! YEEESSSS!!! (and it says "w/ Danny Weinkauf," who is always in the band anyway... so I don't know).
This is one of the only bands anyone at my camp ever listened to in 1995-7. (The other one was REM.)
Oh my god, do you guys remember Dial-a-Song?
Lyrics go like:
I love diggin' in the dirtSource: YouTube
With just a pick and brush
Finding fossils is my aim
So I'm never in a rush
'Cause the treasures that I seek
Are rare and ancient things
Like Velociraptor's jaw
Or Archaeopteryx's wings
Now all the kids
Who wanna see 'em
Are lining up
At our museum
I am a paleontologist
That's who I am
Could it be an herbivore
Crushing plants with rounded teeth
Or ferocious carnivore
Who moves so quickly on its feet
It's like pieces of a puzzle
That I love to try and solve
It's so fun to think about
How a species has evolved
Is it a T-rex? (I keep digging, digging, digging, digging)
Maybe a Triceratops? (digging)
Or a Carnotaur? (digging)
Pachycephalosaurus?
The More You Know: Speaking of sequins, sometimes I think about how there were actual flying dinosaurs, like dinosaurs who could fucking FLY, and they were huge and wanted to - and could - gobble you up in a single snap o' the jaw. Can you imagine that today? Look out your window right now and imagine a dinosaur flying around.
(Oatmeal)BUT it turns out that the fearsome pterodactyl was not a dinosaur at all, just a regular ol' "prehistoric winged lizard." Boring!
Pterosaurs are sometimes referred to in the popular media as dinosaurs, but this is incorrect. The term "dinosaur" is properly restricted to a certain group of reptiles with a unique upright stance (superorder Dinosauria, which includes birds), and therefore excludes the pterosaurs, as well as the various groups of extinct marine reptiles, such as ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs, and mosasaurs.Oh, it's also not called a pterodactyl - it's a pterosaur. At least 60 genera of pterosaurs have been found to date, ranging from the size of a small bird to wingspans in excess of 10 meters (33 ft).

What's the premise of "Halo"?
Search: halo
Why: We were just watching some commercial, and some guy on it looked like Iron Man, and I said, "Is that a Power Ranger?" and Chandler said, "That's Halo," and I asked if Halo was a person?, because I guess I always thought of it ("Halo") as some sort of place or universe or something, and he said he didn't really know... I think that brings us up to speed.
Answer: This is as much as I'm willing to read at this hour. You guys, I was woken up at 7:30 CST this morning because Sadie was catching a lizard, and then I went on 2 airplanes and to 3 airports, and now it's 12:30 PST...
In the past, an intelligent race called The Forerunners used their advanced technology to protect life, but were caught off-guard by an alien parasite known as the Flood. The Flood, which spread through infestation of sentient life, threatened and overran many worlds in the galaxy before the Forerunners could attempt to contain the threat. A group of Forerunners conceived a final solution—using an installation known as the Ark, they built seven large ring-shaped megastructures known as Halos. The Halo Array, when activated, would destroy all sentient life in the galaxy—depriving the Flood of their food. Delaying as long as they could, the Forerunners finally activated the rings and disappeared. Here's the "Halo Array," I think:

I want to see the T-Mobile commercial with Carly
Search: carly ad t-mobile
Why: I haven't seen it - I moved this past weekend and the cable guy just came this morning - but people have been searching for it and landing on my blog:
So I did a little research, and I found this:
Full disclosure: This really only interests me because my name is also Carly.Last night T-Mobile launched the marketing campaign to promote their new 4G network, which features a girl introducing herself as “The new T-Mobile myTouch 4G.” It is clearly a take on the ”I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” ads that were running last year and just like Apple, T-Mobile will also turn them into a series.
Many of our readers enjoyed the ad and thought it was funny, but a lot of people wanted to know who was the female actress playing the myTouch 4G girl. We asked T-Mobile for some info and they responded, “Her name is Carly and you’ll be seeing more of her in upcoming 4G ads.”
Answer: Yawn:
Source: Android and Me
The More You Know: Her full name is Carly Foulkes, and she's been modeling for Ralph Lauren Rugby and Big Pony for a while. Here are some photos:
