The MAGIC 7

The MAGIC 7

When Pope Gregory defined the seven deadly sins that we should avoid, he also included a counter-balancing set of values that we should espouse and adopt. These are:

7 Virtues

Faith is belief in the right things (including the virtues!).
Hope is taking a positive future view, that good will prevail.
Charity is concern for, and active helping of, others.
    Fortitude is never giving up.
Justice is being fair and equitable with others.
Prudence is care of and moderation with money.
Temperance is moderation of needed things and abstinence from things which are not needed.

The first three of these are known as the Spiritual Virtues, whilst the last four are called the Chief or Natural Virtues. The Natural Virtues had already been defined by Greek philosophers, whilst the Spiritual Virtues are a slight variation on St. Paul's trio of Love, Hope and Faith (due to variation in translation from the original: Charity and Love arguably have a high level of overlap).

There are also a number of other sets of virtues, including:

The Seven Contrary Virtues which are specific opposites to the Seven Deadly Sins: Humility against pride, Kindness against envy, Abstinence against gluttony, Chastity against lust, Patience against anger, Liberality against greed, and Diligence against sloth.
The Theological Virtues: Love, Hope and Faith, as defined by St. Paul (who placed love as the greatest of them all).
The four Cardinal Virtues: Prudence, Temperance, Courage and Justice.
The Seven Heavenly Virtues: Faith, Hope, Charity, Fortitude, Justice, Temperance, Prudence.
The Seven Corporal Works of Mercy are a medieval list of things you can do to help others: feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, give shelter to strangers, clothe the naked, visit the sick, minister to prisoners, and bury the dead.
The Seven Bushido Virtues: Right decisions, Valor, Benevolence, Respect, Honesty, Honor, and Loyalty.

So what?

If you follow the virtues, you will be seen as a good person who is to be trusted. If you assume and act as if others follow the virtues, then they are more likely to do so.

You can also be seen as being bold and daring if you break the virtues. Many modern groups (most notably youth) deliberately form their own identity by going against the values of others, so be aware of the other person's real values.

There are six things the LORD hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17 haughty eyes,
a lying tongue,
hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19 a false witness who pours out lies
and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

7 Horcruxes -Harry Potter
How many horcruxes did Voldemort create, and what are they?

There were a total of 7 horocuxes however Voldemort only intended to make 6. The ones he created, in the order destroyed, since the order of creation was not stated are:

The Ring containing the Ressurrection Stone (one of the 3 Deathly (Hallows) - Destroyed by Dumbledore using the Sword of Gryffindor.

The Locket - Stolen from Voldemort by Regulus Black, destroyed by Ron Weasley using the Sword of Gryffindor.

There were a total of 7 horocuxes however Voldemort only intended to make 6.

7 Lords with 7 Swords- Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Searching for the 7 swords requires avoiding the 7 deadly sins and applying the virtues.
The 7 swords together acts like a key.

7 Lords

Lord Octesian
A bracelet bearing Octesian's family crest was found on Dragon Island, where the Dawn Treader stopped for repairs after being caught in a storm.

His true fate is never revealed, but there are two theories about what happened to Lord Octesian when he was on Dragon Island - he either was eaten by a dragon who was already there, or else was himself turned into a dragon. If either theory is correct, Lord Octesian died as a dragon or was eaten by the dragon that Eustace saw dying prior to being turned into one.

Lord RestimarRestimar's corpse, in the form of a gold statue, was found on Deathwater Island, where he had dived into a lake that turned everything in its waters to solid gold. He was discovered by Reepicheep when Edmund found Restimar's armour. Eustace later identified the solid gold body as Restimar's when Coriakin informed them that he had been the only one missing from the party when the remaining four lords arrived on Duffer Island.

Lord Rhoop
Rhoop was found on the Dark Island, where people re-experience terrible nightmares that they've had, or "the Island where Dreams come true." He went to the island thinking that dreams meant daydreams, and found himself trapped in nightmares for seven years. He is a broken man by the time he is rescued, so when the voyage sets anchor at Ramandu's Island the crew leave Rhoop behind to enjoy a blissful, enchanted "sleep without dreams". He remains in this sleep until one of the members of Caspian's crew, Reepicheep, sails into the land of Aslan and he wakes up at the same time as the three other lords who were in a deep sleep there. It is not stated if he ever recovers from his ordeal.

Lords Mavramorn, Revilian and Argoz
These three lords are found on the Island of Ramandu, and are the last to be discovered. Their hair has grown exceptionally long when Caspian and his followers find them; and they are in a deep sleep from which the travellers are unable to wake them.

7 Veils
Dance of the 7 Veils

Some have claimed that the dance of the seven veils has its roots in an ancient myth about the Sumerian goddess Inanna or the Babylonian goddess Ishtar. In this myth, the goddess descends into the underworld and must pass through seven gates on her journey, at each of which she must surrender a piece of jewelry or a symbol of her royalty. The number seven was significant to the ancients, as it is the number of heavenly bodies visible to the naked eye without a telescope: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter. Therefore, there are seven major gods in many ancient religions, and the number seven appears in many myths and classification systems.

Modern day mystics see the dance of the seven veils and the story of Inanna's descent as a metaphor for enlightenment, shedding "veils" of illusion on the path to deeper spirituality of self-realization. The idea of "the seven veils of mystical experience" actually predates Wilde's play. These "seven veils" are, in order, Dreams, Reason, Passion, Bliss, Courage, Compassion, and Knowledge.

7 Lucky Gods of Japan

The Seven Gods of Fortune (七福神, Shichi Fukujin?), commonly referred to in English as the Seven Lucky Gods, refer to the seven gods of good fortune in Japanese mythology and folklore. They are often the subject of netsuke carvings and other representations.

2. Jurōjin, god of longevity
3. Fukurokuju, god of happiness, wealth and longevity
4. Bishamonten, god of warriors
5. Benzaiten (Benten-sama), goddess of knowledge, art and beauty, especially music
6. Daikokuten (Daikoku), god of wealth, commerce and trade. Ebisu and Daikoku are often paired and represented as carvings or masks on the walls of small retail shops

7 things jesus said on the cross
"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."

"Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."

"Jesus said to his mother: "Woman, this is your son".
Then he said to the disciple: "This is your mother."

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

"I thirst"

When Jesus had received the wine, he said,
"It is finished";
and he bowed his head and handed over the spirit.

Jesus cried out in a loud voice,

(A Partial Listing of the Phenomenal Features of Sevens Found in Genesis 1
1 The number of Hebrew words = 7
2 The number of letters equals 28 (7x4 = 28)
3 The first 3 Hebrew words translated "In the beginning God created" have14 letters (7x2 = 14)
4 The last four Hebrew words "the heavens and the earth" have 14 letters (7x2 = 14)
5 The fourth and fifth words have 7 letters
6 The sixth and seventh words have 7 letters
7 The three key words: God, heaven and earth have 14 letters (7x2 = 14)
8 The number of letters in the four remaining words is also 14 (7x2 = 14)
9 The shortest word in the verse is the middle word with 7 letters
10 The Hebrew numeric value of the first, middle and last letters is 133 (7x19 = 133)
11 The Hebrew numeric value of first and last letters of all seven words is 1393 (7x199 = 1393)
When professors on the mathematics faculty at Harvard University were presented with this biblical phenomenon they naturally attempted to disprove its significance as a proof of divine authorship. However, after valiant efforts these professors were unable to duplicate this incredible mathematical phenomenon. The Harvard scientists used the English language and artificially assigned numeric values to the English alphabet. They had a potential vocabulary of over 400,000 available English words to choose from to construct a sentence about any topic they chose. Compare this to the limitations of word choices in the biblical Hebrew language which has only forty-five hundred available word choices that the writers of the Old Testament could use. Despite their advanced mathematical abilities and access to computers the mathematicians were unable to come close to incorporating 30 mathematical multiples of 7 as found in the Hebrew words of Genesis 1:1.

The number "seven" permeates the totality of Scripture because the number speaks of God's divine perfection and perfect order. The actual number 7 appears 287 times in the Old Testament (7 x 41 = 287) while the word "seventh" occurs 98 times (7 x 14 = 98). The word "seven-fold" appears seven times. In addition, the word "seventy" is used 56 times (7 x 8 = 56).)
