SOM is currently designing Terminal 2 for the Mumbai Airport, due to be completed in 2014. Terminal 1 opened in 1992 after the new airport was completed in 1981. The grand curved walls can be seen in many contemporary airports, and the tent-like pillars are typical of Southern Asian civic structures.
