Learning activities & corporative learning approach

As far as teaching and learning activities are concern, he has the inclination to venture into new ideas and ways. Improving his teaching approach and finding ways to improve the students’ quality has been part of his struggle. Recently, being one of the champions in the incorporation of generic skills to the students, he implemented corporative learning approach.
Over the past years, he had lectured 12 subjects both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, in the area of analysis and design of steel, timber and concrete structures. He also lectured on the use of information technology as well as computer programming. Apart from purely teaching, he supervised 7 PhD students, of which 3 had completed. All 13 Master students had also graduated. He has also been appointed as the faculty external examiner to the Civil Engineering Faculty, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn and United College Sarawak. At the undergraduate level he had supervised more than 75 students. He has also given the opportunity to supervise 23 students on system development, multimedia and computer maintenance for the Faculty of Computer Science and Information System whilst he was the IT Manager.
He has been given the responsibility to be part of the faculty and UTM administrative team since 10 years ago. He was the Head Department of Structures and Materials for a year, the IT Manager for three years, the Deputy Dean (Academic) for four years and the Director of Academic Quality of UTM for 2 years. Currently he is the Deputy Dean (Academic) at the faculty and heading the management team in the implementation of ISO 9001.
He consider a success if he see an improvement in teaching and learning activities amongst the academic staffs, a reduction in student drop out and an increase in number of high achievers especially the bumiputra students. During his tenure as the deputy dean as well as the Management Representative in ISO, the faculty had improved, maintained and expanded the certification of ISO to include the teaching and learning activities. This has improved the teaching and learning processes and as the result, is reflected in a dramatic reduction of the student’s failure and increases in the number of high achievers especially the bumiputra.
