KTH Valhallavägen Library, Stockholm Sweden

Architect Erik Lallerstedt designed the original red brick buildings for the Valhallavägen campus including the KTH Biblioteket in 1914. Local artists Carl Milles, Axel Törneman, Georg Pauli, Tore Strindberg and Ivar Johnsson had roles in improving the aesthetics of the campus. The library was renovated in 1994.

As it was originally a Technological institute, the college looks to modern sensibilities. A minimalist glass facade is placed atop the brick walls, with structural columns inside. Like an old train station, the library continues down a barrel vaulted interior with light streaming in from above.
