Cesar Pelli and Architectural Alliance designed the Minneapolis Public Library MPL in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It has been hailed as a new step toward environmental buildings, with a rooftop garden, daylighting, window screens, and a large rooftop garden.

The art district and the eastern business district converge on this site, inspiring the two sections that violently converge at the central courtyard. Exterior walls open up to glazing freely, and yet contain all the structure and leaving the interior open for function.

It opened in 2006.
