The TwentseWelle museum designed by Bjarne Mastenbroek opened in 2008. It combined three museums, Nature Museum Enschede, the Van Deinse Institute and Museum Jannink, into one complex.

The buildings combine styles from different periods in history, with modern bright red stylizing a corridor and cubist transparencies in the tower. The site was remodeled from a textile factory.
